Pravasi Bhawan has been a dream project of ARSP, which has materialized after three decades of constant efforts. This has been possible as a result of co-operation and assistance extended by ARSP members and its well-wishers in India and abroad.
Pravasi Bhawan has been set up to be the power house of PIO activities. It is made to be the meeting point for intellectuals, a venue to organize Seminar and Study Groups. It is also proposed to set up a reference library cum research centre to provide research facilities to scholars on issues concerning PIO’s.
It is constructed on a plot of about 600 square yards, located in the heart of New Delhi at 50, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Marg. It is only 2 kilometres from Connaught Place and ITO crossing in New Delhi.
The plot was allotted by the Government of India in 2002. The foundation stone of the Pravasi Bhawan was laid on 14th December, 2003 by the then Prime Minister of India, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
It was formally inaugurated on Ist December,2009, by the President of the Republic of Mauritius, the Rt Honb’le Sir Aneerudh Jagnauth.
The Ground Floor houses the administrative office block. Other facilities include a decent sized Hall for Seminars and meetings; Six well furnished air conditioned rooms to cater to PIOs, research scholars and social workers.
